Who is Debbie Johnson?
- I’ve lived in UA for 17 years, moved here for the schools and community.
- My husband and I chose to raise our family in Upper Arlington.
- My family is made up of husband Mark Johnson & our children Evan 20, Lauren 19, and Luke 16.
- I have a business degree from Otterbein College.
- I’m a long-time community volunteer and citizen advocate; for example:
- I was the School Levy Co-chair 2007 and held other leadership positions on previous school levy committees,
- PTO Leadership positions at Windermere – PTO President and many others positions, Hastings – Quality of School Life as well as several fundraisers, UAHS – Senior Celebration Co-chair,
- UA Booster Club Treasurer,
- Organized Windermere Gymnasium Initiative,
- Windermere Elementary Intergenerational Arts and Learning Space Committee,
- Along with many other community volunteer positions.
- I am a Leadership UA graduate and Art of Hosting participant.
- I have served on K-5 and Youth (2 terms) councils at First Community Church.
- I am an independent consultant currently engaged in Leadership Development with the Franklin University Leadership Center – responsible for coordination and training of leadership development programs for organizations throughout Central Ohio
What will Debbie Johnson bring to council?
- My first goal is to speak with as many residents as possible to hear first-hand the issues that are important to them. I’m ready to listen to what the citizens of Upper Arlington love about the community and what challenges they see as critical to our future.
- I understand the unique features of Upper Arlington as a first-ring suburb with limited growth potential.
- I will always look objectively at issues.
- I am a consensus builder.
- I am practical and a creative problem-solver.
- I will always be approachable and involved, willing to use my strong communications skills to connect with others.
- I believe in being positive and using a common sense approach.
- I will earn the trust of the citizens that I am elected to represent.
- I have an experienced relationship with school administration and Board and an understanding of the interdependence of school and city.
- My community service skills and work ethic will be the foundation of my work for the citizens of Upper Arlington on City Council.
What does Debbie Johnson stand for?
- I believe that Upper Arlington is a premier community with superior City and safety services and requires consistent, positive, and principled leadership.
- I will work to create an environment that encourages positive leadership and for citizens to work together for a strong Upper Arlington.
- I appreciate the traditions of the City from the 4th of July parade to our safe neighborhoods.
- I want to ensure that Upper Arlington remains as desirable tomorrow as it is today – we need to preserve our standing through positive elected leadership.
- I understand that decisions of today will impact the financial stability of Upper Arlington’s future.
- I believe we need to continue to revitalize our commercial areas so that they contribute to Upper Arlington’s financial stability.
- I will work to preserve all that is good: superior city and safety services, strong financial standing, neighborhood character and citizens’ pride.
- I strongly support the development of young leaders to ensure a strong Upper Arlington well into the future.
